A folder built around what goes inside
A presentation folder holds loose documents together and makes them look like one considered pack. Start with what it needs to carry: a few A4 sheets, a brochure, a price list or a business card. The contents decide the size, the pocket design and the board weight. Tell us the number and type of items, the quantity, and whether the folder will be handed over, sent in the post or used at an event.
A4 folders
The most common format, holding A4 documents in one or two internal pockets. A pocket that holds a business card is a useful addition.
Capacity
A folder for a few loose sheets needs a different construction from one holding a thick report. Tell us the contents so the spine and pockets suit what goes inside.
Matching inserts
Inserts such as price lists, case studies or personalised letters can be printed to sit inside the folder, so the whole pack is planned together.
Paper & finishes
Folders need a stiff board that holds its shape after repeated handling. Coated board shows colour and imagery clearly; uncoated board gives a more natural, tactile feel. FSC-certified boards are available.
Lamination protects the folder and is often used on the outside. Soft-touch lamination, spot UV, foil and embossing can lift a logo or cover design. We can discuss which finishes suit the board and how the folder will be used.
Cutting, creasing and assembly
A folder is printed flat, then cut to shape, creased and folded so the pockets form. Our finishing team handles creasing and folding in-house, along with handwork for assembly jobs that need it.
Folder designs with unusual shapes or capacity spines may need specific cutting tools. Send us your preferred layout or a sample and we will confirm how it will be produced.
Litho or digital printing?
For larger quantities and exact brand colours, folders are printed on our B2 Heidelberg litho presses, which can print Pantone spot colours and take heavier boards.
Short runs or versions for particular events or clients can be discussed for digital print. The right route depends on board, size, quantity and finish.
Mailing & trade print
If folders will be posted, their thickness and weight decide the envelope and postage format. We can produce the folder and its inserts, add personalised letters and handle enclosing, addressing and sortation in-house.
Agencies and print resellers can order presentation folders as unbranded trade print under NDA. We also produce matching letterheads, compliment slips and business cards so the suite is consistent.
