Print & Direct Mail for Belfast and Northern Ireland

Organisations in Belfast often need to reach two audiences at once: customers in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, and customers across the border in the Republic. Fretwell prints and encloses mailings at our factory in Keighley, West Yorkshire, and can send each part of the list through the right postal system.

We have no office in Northern Ireland. Production, data processing and enclosing all happen at our single site, and we work with Belfast teams remotely from brief to despatch.

One mailing, two postal routes

Northern Ireland addresses are part of the UK postal system, so eligible mail to them can be sorted for Royal Mail Mailmark alongside the rest of a UK campaign. Addresses in the Republic of Ireland are handled differently. Through our Ireland service, we format addresses to Eircode, sort for An Post Postaim eligibility, edocket on our own An Post account and deliver the mail directly to An Post in Dublin.

That means a single address file can be split into a UK stream (including Northern Ireland) and a Republic of Ireland stream at the data stage. Both sets of packs can be printed in the same production run, then routed to Royal Mail or An Post as appropriate. You do not need your own An Post agreement for the Irish part of the mailing.

Campaigns that cross the border

Charities, membership bodies and retailers with supporters or customers on both sides of the border can keep one creative and one production plan. Where the content needs to differ, such as prices in sterling and euro or different contact details, our digital presses and data team can version the pieces by recipient.

For mailings that stay within the UK, our data team can prepare the file, our presses print the personalised pieces, and Buhrs enclosing lines insert them before Mailmark sortation. ISO 27001 information security certification covers how we handle supplied data.

Where the work happens

Getting from Belfast to our printworks

Production is at Goulbourne Street, Keighley BD21 1PX; we have no Northern Ireland branch or collection point. Mailings are handed to Royal Mail for UK addresses, and Irish mail goes directly to An Post Dublin. Mail handed over in Dublin typically arrives across the Republic within 3–5 working days. Delivery of printed items to Belfast can be discussed with your quote.

Distances and journey times are approximate, not a delivery or turnaround estimate. For a specific job, please discuss the destination and date with our team.
